Non-US 30-Day Visitor Permit

​If you do not have a US visa, visa-waiver, or green card, a qualified local sponsor must apply IN PERSON at the Immigration Office on your behalf.​

​

To qualify, the sponsor must be at least 21 years old, and be either a US citizen or national.

​

To apply, complete the application and submit it together with the following documents (for both the sponsor and traveler):

SPONSOR DOCUMENTS - 

​

  • Completed and signed application

  • Identification, such as valid passport or document of identity

  • Verification of landowners' consent to host

    • if sponsor lives on communal land, then application must be signed by the family matai (chief) and pulenu'u (village mayor) 

    • If sponsor lives on individually owned land or rents, then proof of ownership (deed or lease) must be provided

  • Pay a $40 USD non-refundable fee

​​TRAVELER DOCUMENTS - 

​

  • Identification, such as valid passport or document of identity (valid at least 6 months after departure)

  • Round-trip ticket, showing travel within 30 days

  • Police clearance from country of origin 

  • Minors, traveling without a parent, to provide notarized parent or guardian consent to travel (Birth Certificate Included)

 

American Samoa Immigration reserves the right to deny a permit for any reason, including but not limited to an untimely application or application for someone previously excluded or deported.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to process a Non-US 30-Day Permit

Applications must be submitted in person within 3-5 business days prior to travel. Any application submitted later may not be processed.

What happens when I get an approved Non-US 30-Day Permit

After the Non-US 30-Day Permit has been processed and paid, the sponsor will be responsible for sending a copy to the traveler. The traveler must hand-carry and present that copy to an immigration officer upon arrival.

Can I extend my stay beyond 30 days?

Yes, a one-time 30-day extension may be requested for a fee of $50.

What if I have not applied before I arrive in American Samoa?

You may be turned away at any of the Ports of Entry in American Samoa and be required to return on the same vessel you embarked on.​
