Residency Visa Petitions

In general, to reside in the Territory eligibility criteria is based on either employment or a family relationship.

Residency Petitions and Applications

If an immigrant wishes to establish residency in the Territory, they are required to go through an application process based on one of two categories: (1) a family based petition or (2) an employment based petition described in detail below.

Employment Based Immigration

Employment-Based Immigration Application (P-45)

Foreign nationals applying for immigration based on employment must complete the P-45 form. You can get this form at the Immigration Office, located on the First Floor of the Executive Office Building in Utulei.

Applicants must also post a bond, which varies by country and is only paid after the residency petition is approved. [Scroll down or click here to view/download the bond list.]

Fees:

  • Application: $75 USD

  • ID Card: $30 USD

Family Based Immigration

P-12 Form for Family-Based Immigration

To apply for immigration through family ties, complete Form P-12, available at the Immigration Office on the first floor of the Executive Office Building in Utulei.

A bond—based on your country of origin—is required after your residency petition is approved. [Click here or scroll down to view the bond list.]

  • Application: $75

  • ID Card: $30

IMPORTANT NOTE:

 

Both types of residency petitions must be completed, submitted, and approved before petitioner enters American Samoa!!!
